A response to the Daily Post’s Daily Prompt: Shape Up or Ship Out
Write a letter to the personality trait you like least, convincing it to shape up or ship out. Be as threatening, theatrical, or thoroughly charming as is necessary to get the job done.
Dear Master Manipulator, As Much as I admire your ability to control the outcome of various situations by prompting certain people at certain times. You do not have my respect. I request that you tone down on the severity of your manipulations and only use them when the situation is appropriate and never use them for the enjoyment of controlling others. You are not a mastermind playing a lifelike game of shogi or chess. There will be outcomes that you cannot anticipate. I agree with you that failure should never be a major concern, for it is not solely about what we do but what we try to do. If you manoeuvre the players without having any harm come by them then I can accept that. If you inflict pain upon even just one of them to push them into the place that we need them to be, then you will continue living your life in shame. You would cease to maintain your path towards redemption. I hope that this letter reaches you in good conscious and you heed my advice. You are only to be used for the greater good, never for thyself and never again for personal pleasure.
